defending champion in men’s singles is Great Britain’s Andy Murray who ended a 77-year wait for a homegrown male champion at this prestigious event. In the women’s side, Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli stormed her way to her maiden Grand Slam title. However, she won’t be back this year as she retired from the sport late last year.
By virtue of having a better grasscourt record in the past two years, world number two Novak Djokovic of Serbia is the top seed at the All England Club, followed by world number one Rafael Nadal. Defending champion Andy Murray is seeded third, up from his world ranking of number five. Seven-time champion Roger Federer is seeded fourth followed by compatriot Stan Wawrinka who is seeded fifth, down from world ranking of number three. Wimbledon takes into account the grass court records in the past two years in determining the seeding’s in men’s singles.
In the women’s side, the seedings were based on current WTA rankings. Five-time champion and world number one Serena Williams is the top seed followed by world number two and reigning Australian Open champion Li Na of China. French Open 2014 champion Maria Sharapova is seeded fifth while runner-up Simona Halep of Romania is seeded third. Former finalist and world number four Agnieszka Radwanska is seeded fourth.

Wimbledon 2014 Final Petra Kvitova va Eugenie Bouchard Live Online

Live
women’s final, between 2011 champion Petra Kvitová and 20-year-old Canadian Eugenie Bouchard, is a mouth-watering contest, pitting the two form players against each other – they have only dropped one set between them so far. Something has got to give, but I really wouldn’t be confident about picking a winner.
I’ve known Genie, as she is called on the tennis circuit, for a decade now. We are the same age and in my first tournament abroad – a small under-12 competition in France – we were actually paired together by chance in the doubles, because I couldn’t speak French then, and she hailed from Westmount, which is an English-speaking enclave in Montreal.
It’s amazing to see how Genie’s game has improved – she has been playing so well this year. Already she has made two grand slam semi-finals, in Australia and French, and now she has become the first Canadian to reach the final in SW19.
She certainly seems to be able to put it together when it really counts, though, and on Monday will break in to the top-10 for the first time. She is currently 13th in the rankings, but she should be eighth or higher, depending on how her final with Petra goes.
Genie has played on Centre Court a couple of times this Championships already, and is yet to drop a set. She may be nervous, but she has a knack of not showing it and her rivals think that she won’t drop mentally

live Kvitova vs Bouchard Wimbledon 2014 Women's Final

Kvitova’s serve is considered one of the best in women’s tennis. “Her serve is huge on grass,” Evert said. “When her serve is on, she’s hard to break.”
STRENGTHS
Kvitova: Her serve
“She’s a big left-hander with a big serve,” Evert said. “Eugenie’s going to really have to step into (her returns) and maybe move to the backhand side a bit more.”
Bouchard: “Just the fact she takes the ball so early,” Evert said, noting Bouchard’s desire to creep in from the baseline and attack.
WEAKNESSES
Bouchard: “Impatience,” Evert said. “She goes for every single shot, but there are days when she misses.”
Kvitova: “She’s up and down … Mentally, there can be some inconsistency,” Evert said.

Twenty-year-old Eugenie Bouchard upset No. 3 Simona Halep in straight sets 7-6, 6-2 at Wimbledon on Thursday to reach her first-ever Grand Slam final. It took six match points before Halep would yield to the No. 13 seed, but Bouchard's composure allowed her to become the first Canadian to reach a Grand Slam final.
"It was a little crazy. I've never really ended a match like that," she said. "Just really happy I kept my focus, didn't get distracted or anything and played well in the last game."
She'll face No. 6 Petra Kvitova in the finals.
Bouchard, seeded No. 13, was the only woman to reach the semifinals at both the Australian Open and the French Open, but she hadn't been able to take the next step until Thursday, which marked her first victory over a top-5 opponent. She relied on her trademark aggression and her big serve to see her through.
"I never say I'm surprised because I've put in a lot of hard work because it's been sort of years in the making. I believe in myself, and I expect good results, and I always want more. I've had a good start to the season, but I expect myself to do even better than that," she said, matter-of-factly.
